What is laminate floor?
Laminate flooring is a synthetic flooring that is designed to look like wood flooring. The laminate flooring consists of 2 layers which are combined with the lamination process. The first layer consists of a photographic layer and the second of melamine resin and fibreboard materials. There is a European Standard No. EN 13329: 2000 that defines the requirements and test methods for laminate flooring.
How is it installed?
The laminate flooring is packaged as a series of tongue and groove boards, which can be clicked together. This actual means that they are like pieces of a puzzle. The installation is carried out with the help of substrate, also known as floating installation. the combination of laminate and the special substrate provide additional reduction of humidity and sound.
How to maintain laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring is prone to scratches and moisture. We recommend that you always keep clean, as dust particles can scratch the surface over time and always use adhesive felt pads on the legs of the furniture. Always squeeze the mop well to reduce humidity and in case of water leakage wipe immediately, otherwise there is a risk that the floor will swell, and a visible gap will be created between the boards.
Quality laminate floors that use joining mechanisms that hold the boards together under constant tension, prevent the entry of dirt into the joints and do not need to “fasten” them together periodically.
