Sanding wood floor

The main downside of a wood floor sanding and refinishing project, as many customers presume, is the fact that it causes a fuss, mess and disruption to some extent. Thankfully, the progress of technology and the industry itself has led to the improvement of sanding machines and techniques, so the sanding process nowadays is significantly less messy and disruptive. However, you can expect some. First of all, the main thing required to be done is completely clearing out of the room, where sanding is planned. This includes removing all the furniture pieces, decorations, textile, art pieces, etc. Attempting re-sanding as a DIY project is even more of a hassle because you need to hire the appropriate sanding machines. Overall, hiring a professional will save you a lot of time, energy, and you can expect pretty much the perfect results, however, it requires a bit of a higher budget. Professionals have the proper experience, expertise, knowledge and craftsmanship to make the project go smoothly and guarantee the best results.

When it comes to the sanding process itself, it requires knowledge and skills to a certain extent. Considering that it is the process of removing the old finish on the surface of the floor along with a thin layer of wood when needed, it is very important to decrease the risk of overdoing it and damaging the entire floor. Paying attention to make sure you will not strip off too much of the surface of the floor is essential. When it comes to engineered wood, it requires even more attention, as its top lamella layer is not that thick, as solid wood would be. Previous treatments of engineered wood should be considered too, as it cannot be treated with an abrasive material as often as solid wood. As an example, if the uppermost layer has a thickness of 5mm, up to 4-5 sanding services are the absolute maximum. In case you are not sure, or in a doubt, always make sure to consult with an experienced wood flooring professional and ask for an on-site inspection.

Sanding makes up for an amazing improvement service, in terms of appearance and condition. Refinishing can bring almost every wooden floor back to life, while the fresh coats of a finish will ensure maximum protection and preservation. You can enjoy your floor for many decades and have it looking brand new. It is, in fact, the most cost-effective option you have, since investing in new floor materials and products along with an installation service is significantly more expensive. Taking into account the hassle factor and the time needed to finish the project, the only other aspect of sanding worth considering is the budget.

Wood floor staining and gap filling

Staining wood floor is virtually an art since finding the proper colour is a difficult undertaking. Cause people are not generally simply looking for a colour but for something specific, makes it incredibly hard tasking.

It’s crucial to note that you can’t stain a floor without first removing the current finish. After the sanding is finished, the floor should be washed and conditioned with a damp mop to elevate the grain. This will allow the stain to penetrate the wood more deeply.

The appearance of the floor after the stain has been applied can be influenced by several things. The type of wood, for example, is a consideration. Close-pored species, such as birch and maple, do not absorb the pigment effectively. Another consideration is the finish. Oils and oil-based coatings get yellow with time. Another example is grey flooring, this sort of finish will gradually change colour as it ages, which is clearly undesirable.

The sanding and polishing quality may also have an effect. Stained flooring, result from exposure to sunshine, tend to bring out any flaws in the grain.

Other reasons could be loose nails or staples, untight nails or staples, subfloor fasteners pulling in and out of the underlaying joint and uneven joists. Our team specialise in wooden floors and so on problems allocated with them.

Floorboards replacement

Real wood floors are sturdy and long-lasting flooring solution. However, even a high-quality timber floor might become a source of major problems in some situations. While sanding and refinishing may readily address most typical wood floor concerns such as stains, minor water damage, dents, gaps, scratches, and other surface flaws, in certain circumstances the damage or imperfection is far too severe to be removed by a sanding machine alone. An expert floorboard replacement is indeed a very useful service that allows you to have your floor repaired by reputable and skilled professionals for a fraction of the expense of lifting and replacing the entire floor.

As a result, even though your floor is suffering from damage in one region does not imply you have to throw it out and get a new one. Expert floorboard replacement is a type of spot repair that focuses on the damaged portions of the floor, especially the broken and distressed floorboards. The procedure will not damage your floor’s structural integrity, but it will undoubtedly enhance it after the new and stronger floorboards are put. The service also caters to visually impaired people
